Sakura Japan Women’s Wine Awards: Four Tsarine Champagnes Win Gold

Reims, April 2022

Four Tsarine cuvées from the House of Chanoine Frères were recognized at the 2022 Sakura Japan Women’s Wine Awards:

  • Gold Medal for Tsarine Cuvée Premium

  • Gold Medal for Tsarine Rosé

  • Gold Medal for Tsarine Orium

  • Gold Medal for Tsarine Millésime 2016

It was four in one stroke for Isabelle Tellier, Chef de Cave of the House of Chanoine Frères, who is the creator of all four cuvées.

Japan appreciates Tsarine champagnes

The ninth edition of the international competition broke records this year, with 4,650 wines from 25 countries competing. The blind tastings were held in Tokyo and Osaka, and were conducted by a jury made up exclusively of Japanese female wine professionals (sommelières, oenologists, winegrowers, instructors in wine academies, restaurant owners, wine merchants, and journalists).

Founded in 2014 by Yumi Tanabe, President of the Wine & Spirits Culture Association, the Sakura Japan Women’s Wine Awards has become the largest wine competition in Asia.

It is also a remarkable institution whose vocation is to promote women’s role in the world of wines, develop a fondness for wine in Japan, and select wines that harmonize with the refinement and high standards of Japanese gastronomy.

A third Gold Medal for Tsarine Premium in 2022

After the Spring session of the Mundus Vini Wine Awards in February and the international Berlin Wine Trophy in March, both held in Germany, Tsarine’s emblematic cuvée has now won its third gold medal this year — this time in Japan at the Sakura Japan Women’s Wine Awards.

The triple gold in Spring 2022 confirms the high quality and consistency of Tsarine’s emblematic cuvée.

Tsarine Premium is a fresh and elegant champagne whose harmony is the result of a perfect balance among Chardonnay, Meunier and Pinot Noir wines.

The 5Oth award for Tsarine Rosé

The awarding of these four medals at the Sakura Japan Women’s Wine Awards is largely the result of the work done by Isabelle Tellier, Chef de Cave, who has been guarantor of the permanence of the style of the House’s wines since 2001.

Isabelle Tellier is the creator of Tsarine Rosé, launched in 2005 and which has just received its fiftieth award in France and internationally.

Isabelle’s more recent creations include Orium, an extra-brut champagne launched in 2019, and the new vintage Tsarine, blended exclusively with wines from the 2016 harvest.
